The murrine

Thanks  to  a  simple  but ingenious invention of Ercole Moretti, in 1968, it was possible to begin production of murrini  pendants which, in only a few years, have become a precious accessory to fashion.

The invention was  the  copper  band  in  the  form  of  a drop, a heart, or a simple circle, within which the slices of the millefiori rod are placed.

Inserted into a kiln,  the  murrini  join, forming  a  compact  disc, and in this way the objects are perfectly regular both in the pattern and in the size.

When  cooled,  the  disc  is  polished to  form  a thin layer which is  slightly convex;  a final polish heightens its shine.
